Empowering Women Leaders Through Political Communication Excellence
In a significant effort to bridge the gender gap in governance across the Middle East and North Africa, INLW Morocco, in collaboration with the WoMena initiative (an AHLN project), will convene a specialized workshop on political communication in Rabat on June 21, 2025. This training is specifically tailored for twenty women affiliated with the Al Hurrya Network who are seeking to strengthen their influence and leadership within the political sphere. Supported by partner SILC, the event aims to provide participants with the practical tools and strategic insights necessary to navigate a challenging regional landscape.
The initiative addresses a critical need, as female political participation in the MENA region continues to face entrenched social, cultural, and legal barriers. Despite recent progress through quotas and affirmative action measures in certain countries, women remain largely underrepresented in senior decision-making roles due to patriarchal norms and traditional gender expectations. Furthermore, many nations still lack the comprehensive legal frameworks required to ensure true gender equality, with some maintaining constitutional obstacles that hinder women’s engagement in public life.
Organizers believe that mastering political communication is essential for overcoming these hurdles, as it facilitates transparent dialogue, builds public trust, and establishes the strong networks needed for systemic change. By combining effective communication strategies with professional development, the workshop seeks to create an environment where women can successfully assume leadership roles and reshape the regional political narrative. The program will be held at the NJ Hotel, located at 63 Avenue Moulay Youssef in Rabat.
Throughout the session, participants will engage in intensive training focused on public speaking, personal branding, and the development of digital and social media strategies. A key component of the workshop involves mentorship from experienced leaders, designed to guide emerging politicians in adapting their messages for diverse audiences. By the conclusion of the event, attendees are expected to have cultivated the skills and platforms necessary to sustain their own leadership brands and contribute to the growth of the WoMena network.
INLW Morocco, in collaboration with WoMena (an initiative of AHLN), co organised a specialized training workshop dedicated to political communication for women from different fields. This initiative is designed to strengthen the capacities of women interested in politics who are members of the Al Hurrya Network.
Women’s political participation in the MENA region faces significant social, cultural, and legal hurdles. Despite recent progress, women remain underrepresented in senior leadership and decision-making roles. Challenges such as patriarchal attitudes and traditional gender roles continue to limit engagement.
This intensive workshop will gathered 20 participants in Rabat to master the art of political influence and leadership. Supported by partner SILC, the program focused on practical skills and strategic networking.
